Video - annoucement of 5th editon of the Conference
We invite you to participate in the 6th Scientific Conference "Energy Security - Pillars and Development Perspective", which is planned for 20-21 September 2021 at the Rzeszow University of Technology. The Conference is organized by the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Institute for Energy Policy and the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Management of the Rzeszow University of Technology in cooperation with the "Eurointegration" Student Academic Circle.
As every year, the aim of the Conference is to contribute to scientific and expert discussion on energy policy, energy security, and the wider energy sector. We believe that creating a platform for discussion with scientists, experts, representatives of public administration, energy companies, NGOs, business journalists and students, we will be able to contribute to the development of scientific achievements in this area of knowledge.
We plan that the themes of the 6th Conference will be a continuation of the scientific discussion on the policy of natural gas and crude oil supply; hydrogen use; low-emission transport and electromobility; offshore wind energy; cyber security in the energy sector; stability of energy, raw materials and fuels supply systems in the aspect of contemporary sabotage and terrorist threats; nuclear energy; energy transition; as well as starting a discussion on flexibility services and virtual power plants. In recognition of the changing political, economic, social and technological conditions, we will discuss energy projects that can leverage economic development. We seek answers on how to create sources of competitive advantage by the state as well as the company.
#SafeVIConference
Taking into account the current epidemiological situation, we are planning to apply the following precautions:
- use of a non-contact temperature measurement reader;
- automate participant registration with badges using QR codes;
- ozone treatment of transferred documents;
- disinfection of halls and common areas (toilets, handles, elevators, microphones, remote controls, laser pointers, etc.) on a one-hour cycle;
- air circulation thanks to a special system of supply and exhaust ventilation of the hall, which draws fresh air from the outside, thus creating the effect of an open window;
- monitoring the number of people (using the 3D system) in the rooms - according to the guidelines for the cubature of rooms;
- mandatory wearing of face coverings and disposable gloves;
- the necessary hand disinfection;
- serving of meals and organisation of coffee breaks, in accordance with duly drawn up safety rules;
- use of a mobile robot with UV-C sterilizing lamps.
Video summary of the 5th Conference (2020)
The previous 5th edition of the Conference was attended by 250 participants (representing 30 scientific centers), 120 speakers (59 stationary and 61 in the online format) and nearly 29 thousand Internet users. Posts posted on Facebook, with a link to the live coverage of the Conference, received over 95 thousand views. In total, the five editions of the Conference were attended by 1 thousand participants (representing 50 scientific centers), about 4 thousand students and nearly 140 thousand Internet users. Among the participants we hosted many representatives of public administration, as well as representatives of energy companies.
On the first day, 12.10.2020, there were 7 plenary panels with 21 in-person speakers and 27 remote speakers. The panels touched upon contemporary challenges of energy security in the face of global transformation trends in this sector. The speakers took up the topics of hydrogen applications in the energy sector, energy security in the face of the sector's transformation and the threats occurring in it, offshore wind energy, and innovations in the energy sector, including the use of artificial intelligence. Hydrogen technology issues dominated this year's energy sector debate. Parallel to the plenary panels, discussions were held in the afternoon sessions on the existing threats affecting the energy department, which consists of energy, raw material and fuel supply systems. These threats were considered in the aspect of sabotage, terrorist and information activities.
On the second day, 13.10.2020, 13 thematic panels were attended by 37 participants in the traditional formula and 34 online. During the debates the issues of strategic energy resources, electromobility, geopolitics of natural gas supply, hydrogen as a fuel of the future, industry in the energy sector, energy security, renewable energy sources or energy efficiency were discussed. Discussions were also held on the diversification of both sources and directions of supply and the consequent need to develop infrastructure. In this perspective, the security of supplies of raw materials, especially natural gas, to the Three Seas Initiative was debated. The questions that the participants of the debates tried to answer were whether the development of energy infrastructure would strengthen the resilience of the region of Central and Eastern Europe and how to diversify gas supply directions in the era of energy transition.
